ShoutCast one of several ways to create an Internet radio station . In general, a ShoutCast station will do everything an FM or satellite station will do. To do a good job of broadcasting Shoutcast all you need is a computer dedicated to the task and a good broadband connection. A more stable connection is preferable to a faster connection. A faster connection that slows down for a fraction of a second will sometimes disrupt the broadcast stream. A slower connection that has a stable speed will broadcast at high quality consistently. This means SDSL is preferred for most locations. The ideal situation is to have the connection and computer being used to broadcast only doing that single task. If you can't afford an extra computer and connection just for ShoutCast you can still have a high quality broadcast when you are not using your computer and connection for other tasks. This is fine for running a station less than 24 hours a day. If you broadcast on a regular basis, larger stations may syndicate your content. This bringing you a larger audience.
